Q: We love big spreadsheets and have never found anything to replace them
Well that is not a question but we will give you an answer anyway. Spreadsheets are the ultimate tools when it comes to flexibility. However, they are not true databases. That means that you cannot easily create standard reports against them. You also cannot set up configurable alerts that are emailed to your desktop. Spreadsheets are not true multi-user tools with seamless data retrieval from enterprise systems. Intellimas is all of this and more. With Intellimas you create a repeatable process where an end user cannot accidentally change a calculation and wreak havoc. We use spreadsheets also, but never when the process requires a true database.

Online spreadsheets can help you better collaborate with internal or external users but they still lack the features of a real database. Standardized reporting and charting, alerts, multi-user access, field and row level security, standard data retrieval, integration with downstream systems, and much more are available features in Intellimas. It all depends on how much business logic needs to be built into Intellimas entities. Many times, no code at all is needed and you can create an application just using the main areas of the configuration UI. However, once you need complex business logic, automation, validations or calculations, we recommend using the script engine built into the config engine. This provides for the ultimate flexibility.
