It’s one of those tools you didn’t know you needed until you use it once and realize how much time you were wasting to organize my backups. FolderManifest basically does the heavy lifting for you. It identifies everything, handles the duplicates, and makes sense of the mess. It’s one of those tools you didn't know you needed until you use it once and realize how much time you were wasting.
Cons: You have to be careful before you commit to changes because there’s no easy 'undo' button once the files are moved. Be cautious when making changes, as there's no easy 'undo' option once files are relocated.
Overall: The "Renamed Duplicate" Nightmare In research, we often save the same dataset multiple times. One person might name it survey_data_v1.csv and another might save it as Raw_Data_Final_USE_THIS.csv. Standard Windows search won't catch those as duplicates because the names are different. FolderManifest uses checksums (digital fingerprints), so it knows they are the same file even if the names were changed.
