"Powerful industrial IoT platform — our go-to solution for OPC UA data acquisition"

    Posted 2026-03-23

Pros: As a DataPortia reseller and system integrator, we've deployed this for multiple industrial clients connecting to PLCs, SCADA, and OPC UA servers. The TimescaleDB-backed storage handles high-frequency data from dozens of connections without breaking a sweat. The built-in AI analysis (Ollama integration) genuinely impresses clients — anomaly detection and trend forecasting on live process data is something they didn't expect from an on-premise tool. Automated reports with PDF/CSV export save our clients hours every week. The installer is clean, the update path is smooth, and config.ini survives upgrades — a small thing that matters a lot in production environments. The WinCC/WebView2 integration made us able to embed DataPortia directly into existing Siemens PCS7 operator stations, which was a major selling point for several projects.

Cons: Initial setup requires PostgreSQL + TimescaleDB knowledge, which can be a barrier for smaller clients without IT staff but Atorcom support is top notch. No native mobile app available yet.

Overall: We've integrated DataPortia into heat plants, factories, and water treatment facilities. It consistently delivers — reliable OPC UA connectivity, solid data retention, and a reporting layer that non-technical staff can actually use. For any industrial site that wants on-premise, vendor-independent time-series data collection with real reporting capabilities, this is the product we recommend.
