"Dice's TalentSearch is a solid sourcing tool" Posted 2021-09-20
Pros: My favorite feature of Dice's TalentSearch is when you post a new job, the tool will return a bunch of potential candidates from their resume database (and if selected, 3rd party sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) based on the specifications in the posting. Otherwise the manual search works well too. My 2nd favorite feature is the job screener tool. It helps to be able to score, rate, and rank the consultant's experience
Cons: The challenge with Dice's TalentSearch is the quality and quantity of their resume database. I think in the last few years it has been slowly losing out to other sites such as LinkedIn and Indeed. The job screener lost its pre-publish preview mode in the last major upgrade about a 1-2 years ago. So now the only way to see if you made a typo or want to make a correction/adjustment to the job screener is to publish and then edit. That's not very good or helpful.
Overall: I definitely recommend trying Dice out if you are primarily looking for IT Services resources, but maybe don't put all your eggs in the one basket. I do still think Dice has a little bit of an edge in capturing IT/tech specific candidates, but I think it is slowly losing its advantage as LinkedIn for sure (and seemingly Indeed and Glassdoor) has a better way of attracting business professionals to list their profiles in general which then pulls in all the accompanying IT folks.
