AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) is a highly automated lift-and-shift solution designed to simplify, accelerate, and reduce the cost of migrating applications from on-premises environments, private clouds, or other public clouds into AWS. It works by continuously replicating source servers at the block level into an AWS account, preserving the exact configuration of applications, operating systems, and data. When organizations are ready to migrate, the service automatically converts these replicated servers into native AWS resources such as Amazon EC2 instances, enabling fast cutover with minimal downtime and no need to modify applications.
