CacheGuard-OS is a free, open-source Linux-based network security appliance OS that turns any standard x86 machine into a UTM gateway. It sits between your devices and your ISP router, becoming the checkpoint for all internet traffic — no IT team required.

Open-source since its first release, CacheGuard-OS includes: stateful firewall, web antivirus (ClamAV), URL filtering, SSL inspection, WAF (ModSecurity), VPN server (StrongSwan), web cache (Squid), QoS (IPRoute2), and WAN load balancing.

It installs on bare metal or any common hypervisor in under an hour. Configuration is handled through a web-based admin interface with no command-line expertise needed.

    Pros: We acquired the solution for our deployment in our branches with a goal of load balancing and QoS features, I have to say that we were impressed by the quality of the solution and the professionalism of the support team.

    I highly recommend CacheGuard.

    Cons: We have the solution in production and so far so good.

    Overall: The solution is very useful and can be deployed with several platforms. We are fully satisfied by the quality of the technology offered and it’s easy integration in campus, branches or data centers.
