About

Waterfox is a privacy-focused web browser designed for power users who want control, customization, and speed. Built on a Firefox-based foundation, it removes telemetry, analytics, and remote experiments by default. Waterfox prioritizes user privacy with features like Oblivious DNS, which protects both what you browse and who is browsing. The browser includes built-in tools that eliminate the need for multiple extensions. Private Tabs allow users to isolate sensitive browsing sessions without switching entire windows. Performance optimizations ensure fast, smooth browsing across modern systems. Waterfox delivers a secure and flexible browsing experience without compromising user freedom.

About

bmux is a desktop web browser for developers, researchers, and people working alongside browser agents. It arranges tabs in split panes and named sessions within one window, while separate profiles isolate logins and browser storage. Keyboard-focused tools include shortcuts, Vim-style navigation, click hints, and floating reference panes. Its command-line interface can control a selected pane to navigate pages, inspect the DOM, click, type, and take screenshots; sessions can continue in the background and be attached for review. Mobile viewport presets and per-profile proxy settings support browser automation workflows. bmux is free and open source under GPLv3. Desktop editions are listed for macOS and Windows, with Linux available as a portable host for remote browser access. It is an early preview and does not require tmux.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • getting used to this browser was extremely easy (duh) and using it has given me no issues as of yet. extension support is awesome, and importing everything was simple enough. startpage as a default browser is also cool ! definitely an enjoyable experience.
  • It isn't Firefox, made by people that are dreamers, in short a miracle they are still in a job really.
  • Everything was very good, because I was also familiar with Firefox, I only needed a reserve browser, which was more then suitable. All extensions and add-ons working with fire-, were also compatible with the water-... most of all the download helper, and the several different add-blockers.
  • I have been using Waterfox for a couple of months now and Waterfox is definitely ahead of Firefox in performance. I can honestly say i haven't had any hiccups with Waterfox whatsoever. Id confidently say Waterfox is almost twice as fast as Firefox. I don't know what the standards are in security for Waterfox though.

Cons

  • really poor performance on my phone. I have a Samsung S21 and it runs Waterfox really slowly compared to Chrome.
  • it can't display pictures, needs major work to fix its brittle engine, it is slow, over promises and under delivers, suffers that same issues as its parent, a complicated hidden settings method and threadbare features, it's poorly made with careless design and no real quality.
  • NO cons, except that it stopped supporting Windows 7. I know it by heart, I am 60 and DO NOT intend learning new windows, adapting applications, looking for alternatives, add-ons patches etc etc. ONLY because it would not support win 7 anymore I deleted it completely, yesterday. I found several equally good alternatives supporting win 7, full force, similar as w-fox used to.
  • Waterfox default browser is Bing. That is my only complaint.
