About

mimem is a cloud-based, AI-assisted markerless motion capture application that turns recorded video into 3D character animation. Users can upload footage from stationary phones, webcams, GoPros, DSLRs, or other cameras; the service synchronizes views and reconstructs body, hand, and finger movement without marker suits or calibration equipment. A browser-based preview lets users review the result before exporting FBX animation for use in compatible 3D software, including Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender, and Maya. Users can also retarget motion to their own characters, with IK retargeting available on paid plans. The companion app supports synchronized recording with iPhone and Android devices, while multi-camera capture scales by plan, up to 12 cameras. The product serves character-animation, game-development, film, and visual-effects workflows. A free tier is available with limited monthly exports; paid plans provide higher processing, storage, camera, and export allowances.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • High quality render & good performance too! I work on making 3d software, real time visualisation software, PC VR, standalone VR apps, archviz, advertisement, motion graphics, casual games, AAA games, marketing apps, animation videos & more!
  • This software is the easiest, cheapest option for anyone looking to build a game. It has assets that are necessary to build your game you can buy more stuff.
  • Good community and people to talk to who help in solving your problem. Best application to create games for developers.
  • - Unreal Engine literally enables to expand your ambitions while thinking about a game or any visual aspect for that matter. It has enough power to make even your wildest imaginations materialize on the screen.
  • Most people probably know of Unreal Engine thanks to big name games that have been built with it, and for good reason too. But did you know you can use it for physics simulations too? Pleasantly surprised my research group was able to use this to help simulate autonomous drone flight paths.

Cons

  • XR development support is not that wide!
  • I have no issues with this software. It works perfectly for what it needs to do.
  • It has a visual scripting feature which helps a lot to build a game.
  • - Unreal Engine, unlike Unity, is not at all beginner-friendly, it is for experienced pros with high ambitions. - It requires a lot of good equipment to run properly. It's not for old computers.
  • It's a big download, and the graphics requirements are high, ideally you have a computer with plenty of processing power.
