About

Thinfinity® Workspace 7 is a comprehensive, secure platform that offers a zero-trust approach, enabling secure and contextual access to corporate virtual desktops, virtual applications, internal web apps, SaaS, and files, whether they are on Windows, Linux, or mainframes. It supports various deployment models, including cloud, on-premise, and hybrid settings, and can be deployed on any cloud provider of your choice. With its proprietary reverse gateway technology, Thinfinity® Remote Workspace 7 ensures secure reverse connections over SSL with TLS 1.3 encryption. This robust approach doesn't require client-side installations, firewall modifications, or the opening of inbound ports on your network, thereby enhancing the security infrastructure of your business. The platform ensures all browser-based connections are secured over HTTPS, offering a wide variety of authentication options, from straightforward User/Password to sophisticated Active Directory authentication.

Pros from Real Users

Pros

  • Ease of Use: The web-based interface is user-friendly and easy to set up. Flexibility: Allows access from virtually any device with internet connectivity. Cost-Effective: Reduces the need for extensive hardware setups, as applications run on a central server. Scalability: Suitable for both small businesses and larger enterprises, adapting to varying needs.
  • Very simple installation, pre-configured applications. I created some RDP connections very quickly, they work very smoothly even at high resolution. The integration into Microsoft Active Directory was also problem-free. Many different possibilities to connect remote systems, RDP, VNC, websites etc.
  • It works to view a remote PC from secure environments where Microsoft's RDP may be disabled, where no software can be installed, and no additions to browsers allowed. Where the work firewall has no inbound ports and very limited outbound ports, say 443 and 80 only via a gatekeeping proxy server. So the remote PC is simply an active web page.
  • It's very secured to access my desktop and files from any network. I can easily connect from any devices with Any OS.
  • - Secure remote access: Thinfinity Workspace provides robust security features, including SSL encryption, Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), and Single Sign-On (SSO), ensuring the safety of your data and connections. - Platform-agnostic: Compatible with various operating systems and devices, including Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android, enabling users to access their applications and files from any location and device. - User-friendly interface: The intuitive and customizable interface allows for easy navigation and a seamless user experience. - Application virtualization: Thinfinity Workspace enables businesses to host and manage virtual applications, reducing the need for local installations and making it easier to manage and update software. - Scalability and flexibility: This solution can be easily scaled up or down to accommodate the changing needs of businesses, making it an ideal choice for companies of all sizes.
  • Thinfinity Remore Workspace it's a great solution for deploying GPU intensive applications in any device. It's been a lifesaver.
  • It's a great solution for deploying legacy software in a browser.
  • Not only does it provide cost efficiency, but it also offers easy on-demand management of remote access to the cloud.
  • Thinfinity Remote Workspace is amazing. It's allowed our workforce to be more flexible and use different devices.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Free & Open Source. Easy to setup & use. Great for using different Operating Systems on a single hardware simultaneously.
  • VirtualBox has updates often, supports a multitude of platforms (Windows, mac, Linux, Solaris...), and has a great documentation.
  • VirtualBox is available on pretty much all the majors platforms including Windows, Mac, and Linux. I'm using the later and you can run pretty much all type of systems on it (DOS, Windows, Mac, Solaris, and Linux). It's super easy to configure and use. I haven't experienced any major issue so far in the years I'm been using it. The bi-directional handling of the files and shared folders between host and guest machines is very easy and smooth. It is also fairly easy to expand the disk capacity of a virtual system. I had done that a few time as Windows keep swelling on my guest machine.
  • Open Source & Free to use. Easy to install & configure. Lots of customization options. Good documentation. Great community & regular updates.
  • It can virtualize a lot of operation systems including Windows, Mac, Linux and even Android. There are many configurable options available including amount of memory, video memory, storage and more. The virtualization works extremely well with no issues.

Cons

  • For a free software there is no con - but Vmware probably has more ease of access.
  • The hiccup for me is sometimes the VirtualBox Guest Additions, which on some Linux distros, I have to manually download every time I want to use it.
  • One of the majors cons I have with VirtualBox (on Linux) is the handling of the VM VirtualBox Extension Pack. Everytime I have an update of VirtualBox (which I don't usually notice at first), it will require you to go on the VM website, download the new Extension Pack and install it before you can actually start you VirtualBox session. It doesn't take long but it's annoying and I don't understand why the Extension Pack is not included in the mainstream update anyway.
  • Interface has become outdated. Less beginner friendly than competitors.
  • It's difficult to set the resolution to HD widescreen. GPU passthrough is not supported, so it's not good for virtualization of tasks that need a GPU.
