About

Simcenter Amesim is a leading integrated, scalable mechatronic system simulation platform that allows design engineers to virtually assess and optimize the systems’ performance. This will boost overall systems engineering productivity from the early development stages until the final performance validation and controls calibration. It allows its users to focus on engineering, deliver accurate and actionable results, develop scalable models supporting the entire development cycle, improve collaboration and integrate system performance with other engineering disciplines. Simcenter Amesim is part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, the comprehensive and integrated portfolio of software and services from Siemens Digital Industries Software.

About

SysMLv2 Editor is a Visual Studio Code extension for writing SysML v2 models in the textual notation, developed by Change Vision, Inc. Models are plain .sysml files, so they can be tracked in Git, compared in pull requests, and reviewed alongside source code. Features include syntax highlighting, real-time validation against the SysML v2 grammar, navigate to definition, an outline view, and diagram generation for reviewing structure and behavior. Diagrams are read-only; editing happens in the text. For editing directly on diagrams, Change Vision offers SysMLv2 Modeler (early access). SysMLv2 Editor runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It is included with an Astah SysML, Astah System Safety, or Astah Faculty Site License, with no separate purchase, and a 20-day free trial is available. It does not import SysML v1 models from Astah SysML.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • - No need to write equation :) - Physical approach to build systems with Lego-like bricks - Easy to see an analyze power exchanges between the bricks of the system - Analysis tools embedded - Available starters and big demos
  • The only pro is the multiphysic simulation.if it is developed by big company does not mean it is good.

Cons

  • - Take some time to know how to manage the connection between bricks (the "causality" aspect) - Huge number of bricks and related physical "libraries" (even though lot of starters are available) - Many items in the GUI compared to Simulink
  • One hundred library for the same components. No logic behind the coupling of components. No logic in input and output. Modeling of simple things become a nightmare. Poor documentation.
