Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Setup is a breeze. Easily add firewall rules Easily add or remove users. Fast support and possibility to bring your own aws cloud etc when you are really scaling etc.
  • So simple to setup and manage our databases. We've luckily not had to use the automated failover in production, but tested it rigorously before deploying. It couldn't be easier to manage and setup. The alert system is amazing as well.
  • I am a scientist who has no formal training in computer science or databases. I needed to create a MySQL database to store a large amount of training data for a machine learning project. I found AWS to be overly complicated and overpowered for my needs. ScaleGrid offered an affordable solution with a web interface and very responsive support. I highly recommend them.

Cons

  • - it's a bit costly for minimum plan being 10$ It is costly for starters but if you are about to scale it makes sense to use it.
  • I honestly don't have a single con for moving to ScaleGrid. It was so simple.
  • It would be helpful to have a bit more documentation about how to manage backups, get more disk space, and use the web console. It is all probably self-evident to database gurus, but for non-experts like me, documentation would be very helpful.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • - Very easy learning curve - querying in both Oracle and SQL. - Allows to identify what queries are heavy on the CPU usage and database infrastructure. - Has an alerting system for early detection of abnormalities, which can be life-saving. - Custom views for tracking and monitoring which saves bandwidth and cost. - Has a great customer service and support. - Everything is available on the cloud and usage is very light on the system as well.
  • It provides an intuitive interface tool to monitor Database performance with no load. It provides every aspect of monitoring and its simplicity of the graph makes it easy for analysis.
  • #1- Simple to configure and monitor the database. #2- Robust Reports to analyze health and performance. #3- SolarWinds DPM, makes it easy to figure out the exact issues of system performance.

Cons

  • It does require constant manual updating since there is little automation, which can be hectic. UI can also use some improvement.
  • No cons. I will update review if I face any cons.
  • #1- We have an overall positive experience with it.
