About

ReactOS is an operating system. Our own main features are that ReactOS is able to run Windows software, and it is also able to run Windows drivers. ReactOS looks-like Windows, and it is free and open source. ReactOS is a free and open source operating system written from scratch. Its design is based on Windows in the same way Linux is based on Unix, however ReactOS is not Linux. ReactOS looks and feels like Windows, is able to your run all your Windows applications and software, as well as all your Windows drivers, and is familiar to Windows users. You can create your own ReactOS versions! You’re using Open Source software daily if you use Firefox, LibreOffice, OpenOffice, GNU-Linux distributions among zillions of Open Source projects out there. The Open Source projects, as ReactOS, are driven for and by its Community, so being active translating, donating, or coding is a way to help ReactOS boost forward.

About

Windows XP is a version of the Microsoft Windows operating system for personal computers. It was released to manufacturing on August 24, 2001, and to retail on October 25, 2001. The "XP" in Windows XP stands for "eXPerience". Windows XP is a direct upgrade to its predecessors, Windows 2000 for high-end and business users and Windows Me for home users. It replaced Windows 2000 and Windows ME, which helped bring the NT and 9x versions of Windows together. Windows XP is a graphical user interface (GUI) that allows you to use different types of applications or software. For example, you can use a word processing application to write a letter and a spreadsheet application to track your financial information. Windows XP is known for its bright color schemes, easy-to-use interface, and stability. It was one of Microsoft's longest-running flagship operating systems, lasting at least 5 years. It was succeeded by Windows Vista on January 30, 2007.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I've no doubt they added a Windows XP-theme to it, but I'd like the ability to choose Interface colors such as Red, School-Bus Orange, Yellow, Lime, Green, Turquoise, Windows-XP Blue, Blue-Violet, Violet(not synonymous with Purple), Pink, Vintage-Beige, Chocolate Brown, Carbon-Fiber Black, Windows-XP Silver & Copy-Paper White to apply.
  • Well, it's free, and the OS can run a lot of stuff, like the game Skyrim and Microsoft Office. I also managed to use it to print and to use photoshop.

Cons

  • The Alpha-stage email updates! Why don't more people with fatter wallets than mine pitch in so that ReactOS can reach Beta-stage already, it's already 2023 and I want a finished product THIS YEAR!
  • It's hard to set up a workgroup or a domestic network, but take this with a grain of salt since it's a work in progress. ReactOS is a work in progress and it's at the level of Windows Vista, maybe windows 7 at best, but it will be a long time before it can be as responsive as windows 10/11.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • It's very lightweight and adapts very easily to the PC, it doesn't complicate its use, and even though everyone likes updates nowadays, this system doesn't have errors or cause damage...

Cons

  • Some additional things need to be downloaded and installed, but this is specific to each system.
