About

Noteastic delivers the digital handwriting experience Windows users deserve. Engineered natively for the platform, it combines responsive pen input with an intuitive interface that doesn't get in your way. Whether you're annotating research papers, capturing lecture notes, or sketching project ideas, Noteastic provides the tools you need without the bloat you don't. The app prioritizes performance — smooth inking, instant tool response, and efficient system resource usage set it apart from browser-based alternatives. PDF workflows are seamless. Import documents, annotate with precision tools, and export marked-up versions to share with colleagues or classmates. The organizational library keeps your notebooks structured and accessible. Key Features: - Responsive pen, highlighter, and shape tools - PDF import and annotation capabilities - Notebook library with flexible organization - Multiple paper styles and background options - Native Windows performance (not a web app)

About

writenode is a browser-based note-taking and personal knowledge tool for capturing and connecting information as users browse. Its Chrome extension lets users save selected text, webpages, links, PDFs, and spoken notes without leaving the current page. Captures become searchable, connected nodes, and a knowledge graph helps users see relationships among saved ideas. Users can ask questions grounded in their own materials and use a rich-text editor with AI actions to revise, summarize, expand, or reformat notes. A built-in Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector lets Claude read and write the user's writenode memory. The web app also supports custom mental models that shape AI responses. Researchers, builders, writers, and other knowledge workers can use writenode to collect web-based information and retrieve or develop it later. Users can bring their own AI and transcription provider keys.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • - Intuitive interface. - Efficient PDF import. - Great diagramming tools. - PDF Export. - Grid customization. - Backup feature. - Free to use.

Cons

  • - Resume position: The app returns to the start of the document every time I reopen a note. Although there is a pop-up to jump back to where I was, it would be better if this were automatic. - Navigation: It is difficult to navigate through large PDFs; finding a specific page takes too much time. - No Cloud synchronization.
