About

MOSS-Image is an open-weight text-to-image model family for generating images from natural-language prompts and structured layout instructions. Its Base and fine-tuned SFT checkpoints share an inference interface and support prompts of up to 4,096 tokens. Users can describe a scene in text or provide JSON layout data to guide where objects and rendered text appear in the composition. The project includes Python and Gradio workflows, a Diffusers pipeline, model weights, and guidance for local deployment and fine-tuning. It can be used to create illustrations, photorealistic images, posters, and other designed compositions, including images containing specified text. Developers can also use supported image-generation runtimes and a hosted API option. The software is aimed at developers, researchers, and creative practitioners who want to generate or adapt images with layout control.

About

Nano Banana 2.1 is Google's high-efficiency AI image generation and conversational editing model, released on October 6, 2026 as an update to Nano Banana 2. The model maintains Flash-level speed and cost efficiency while improving visual quality, text rendering, and consistency across multi-turn image editing workflows. It supports native image generation at 1K, 2K, and 4K resolutions with a wide selection of aspect ratios ranging from 1:8 to 8:1. Users can combine multiple reference images, with support for maintaining the resemblance of up to four characters and high-fidelity representation of up to 10 objects within a workflow. Nano Banana 2.1 can use Google Search and Google Image Search for grounding, allowing generated visuals to incorporate information and visual context retrieved from the web. The model also supports video-to-image generation and is available through the Gemini API under the gemini-nano-banana-2.1 model identifier.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • The text rendering is also noticeably better. Infographics, posters, UI-style graphics, and anything with labels or typography come out cleaner and need less manual fixing afterward. I really like the multi-reference support too. Being able to use up to 14 reference images gives me much more control when I am trying to preserve specific people, products, objects, or visual styles across a project.

Cons

  • The main downside is that it can still get spatial details wrong occasionally, especially things like left versus right, and Google says advanced 3D reasoning and factuality still have limitations.
