Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • MAPOG is easy to pick up even for users without GIS experience, and it allows quick creation of interactive maps with a clean workflow that doesn’t feel overwhelming.
  • MAPOG makes spatial storytelling very intuitive. I liked how easy it is to add locations manually, geo-reference maps, and attach attributes like text and images. It also provides AI powered features The interface is clean and beginner-friendly, yet powerful enough for GIS students and researchers. It helped me present projects such as Spatial interpolation of AQI and tourism mapping in an interactive and visually appealing way, instead of static maps.
  • The platform is easy to use, even for someone who is a beginner and doesn't know about GIS software. I especially liked how I could combine maps, images, and links to create a story. no complicated software installation was required and i could also use it on my mobile, saved me a lot of time. Also, various tutorials were available to help with any doubts or problems.
  • Easy to use, even without any mapping experience. Uploading Excel data and turning it into an interactive, shareable map. Perfect for creating quick visual portfolios or project overviews.
  • I generally use them for non-commercial research. I am a researcher and student who uses MAPOG to conduct my research in the fields of environment and water resources. My experience has shown that this database is one of the most complete resources that provides maps with high accuracy and detail.

Cons

  • It lacks some advanced GIS functionalities and deeper analytical tools that professionals might expect for complex spatial projects.
  • Some advanced analytical and customization features could be expanded further for complex GIS workflows. More detailed tutorials or documentation for advanced use cases would help new users explore the full potential of the platform.
  • As a new user I needed some practice to know proper ways to use the functions. While the platform mentioned about the upcoming AI tools, but they are still in development and were not available for use.
  • Would be better if details showed when hovering over points instead of clicking each one.
  • I didn’t like the prices. The cost of MAPOG felt high relative to the value it provides, which makes it challenging to justify the investment, especially if your budget is tight or if there are alternative solutions available at a lower cost.
