About

KeePass is a free open source password manager, which helps you to manage your passwords in a secure way. You can store all your passwords in one database, which is locked with a master key. So you only have to remember one single master key to unlock the whole database. Database files are encrypted using the best and most secure encryption algorithms currently known (AES-256, ChaCha20 and Twofish). KeePass can be downloaded for free from SourceForge.

About

MYKI securely stores your passwords away from the cloud. Regain control of your digital identity by keeping your sensitive data stored locally across your devices. The security of an offline password manager. The convenience of a cloud connected one. MYKI is an offline password manager that securely stores and syncs your sensitive data locally on your MYKI-enabled devices. The MYKI app does not store your passwords in the cloud, making it very difficult for hackers to gain access to your data. MYKI seamlessly syncs P2P between devices that you install the MYKI app on. You no longer need to create, manage and remember a master password anymore. Use your fingerprint, Face ID or a pin code to access the MYKI app. MYKI can securely store and fill your two-factor authentication tokens while you browse, without compromising convenience.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I've been using KeePass what seems like forever--at least 20 years. It just works. I have never had a problem with it. I've never used another password program, so I can't compare.
  • It is simple to use. It has all the tools needed. I have been using it for at least 10 years. It has many for features than I use.

Cons

  • I'd like to have a few more fields which I could name and which could hold stuff I could have autotyped. For example, If I need to enter my credit card number, it would be nice to have a field named Card Number that I could click to have that number inserted. Now I store the number in notes so I can copy and paste it
  • It is often impossible to update KeePass. The only way to get it to update is to contact Support.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Browser extensions work well most of the time and the syncing across devices has been seamless. It definitely ticks the boxes for a password manager that is not storing data in the cloud. Having inbuilt 2FA has been helpful.
  • MYKI is available on cross-platform, gives ease to access password on computer and mobile simultaneously. Password storage vault is secure and 2FA account protection. Offline password access.
  • Slick interface Easy to setup and use Available as browser extensions - use from any device Works as as 2 FA Authenticator Works offline Secure with good privacy features Available free for personal use

Cons

  • The first thing I noticed is that Myki is always there. It becomes quite intrusive when trying to use webforms and will occasionally recognise non-password fields as passwords. The various browser extensions and the Myki app are not always intuitive to navigate, and features seem to differ between versions. There are small quirks that just make it feel difficult to use, such as password lists always jumping back to the beginning when you go in and out of the browser extension for both your username and password.
  • In my experience, I never encountered any problem.
  • It just works great as a offline password manager and authenticator and is a viable alternative for more popular tools like LastPass.
