About

Heroku is a cloud platform that lets companies build, deliver, monitor and scale apps — we're the fastest way to go from idea to URL, bypassing all those infrastructure headaches. “There’s an app for that” – only a few years ago a catchy marketing campaign introduced the world to a new relationship with the mobile phone. Now, apps have become a way of life for most of us. Whether mobile or web, apps and their underlying APIs are how we manage our lives, make purchases, socialize, stay informed, and interact with customers. An app starts impacting the world when customers start interacting with it. Getting apps out in the wild, out onto the Internet quickly, and iterating, fast, is what can make or break companies. Heroku focuses relentlessly on apps and the developer experience around apps. Heroku lets companies of all sizes embrace the value of apps, not the distraction of hardware, nor the distraction of servers - virtual or otherwise.

About

Start, build and ship full-stack apps with AI or code on the platform built for agent experience (AX). AI makes it easy to generate code. The harder part comes next. Getting changes live. Keeping systems stable. Understanding what broke when something doesn’t behave as expected. That challenge grows as updates happen faster and more often. Netlify brings the whole development workflow into one platform. Builders and agents move from idea to production quickly, without losing context. Our best-in-class agent experience (AX) results in a shared workflow where humans and AI agents work side by side quickly and safely. We bring together all modern web frameworks, serverless functions, edge computing and managed Postgres in one platform. Leading AI coding agents like Claude Code, Codex CLI and Gemini CLI come built in. More than 15 million builders use Netlify, from solo developers and vibe coders to Fortune 100 companies and teams at Bolt, Figma, Mattel, and Riot Games.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • You can say Heroku is the easiest cloud platform to learn and master. Also it is very much easy to implement. It is so simple that if you even have some basic knowledge of Git and Github you can easily master this technology. You can log the errors. And you can deploy your different project in this.
  • You cannot find any other better platform to deploy your web app. Also, scaling your app is very easy with this. You get the feature to checks your logs and also bash terminal to manage your files. Also, many backend and frontend languages are supported in this.
  • Online and offline log support Terminal Support Easy to use - Same as git Powerful and reliable Secure
  • I have recently used this for generating API this was my first time but I didn't face any problems, very easy to use.
  • Whether you're at a hackathon or just quickly prototyping a new app for your company, chances are high you want real users to be able to try your app. You could just host it on a localhost, but that means you can't direct people to a proper URL. Heroku allows you to do that.

Cons

  • There is no con in using this product. This works fine for me.
  • I have been using this for all my web development projects and I don't find any con in using this platform.
  • You need to know the basic of Heroku to start and what is Procfile and other stuff.
  • You need little bit knowledge about API and Heroku.
  • I first heard of Heroku back in 2015 and a few years later I swear I heard it was shutting down? But apparently it's still usable, so I'm not sure what exactly was going on. Company communications can be better, in this regard.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Netlify has a nice platform, and the CMS is a nice touch. They also USED to have good service pricing but now everyone is leaving because of how bad it is.
  • The pros of using Netlify are that you cannot find any other easy software to host you web app. You can directly host you Github repository. It has crash reposts and logging, so it makes development much more easy.
  • Easy to use. Integration with different version control sites makes it fast. Free to use. Easy deployment of websites.
  • - The biggest pro is that Netlify lets you host your first site for free. This is a blessing for those getting started with blogging since they do not have to pay any hosting fee.
  • - Netlify makes it a walk in the park to setup a static site and integrate it with GitHub. It removes all the clutter that other CMS platforms have.

Cons

  • Netlify attracted a bunch of people to their platform through good competitive pricing and offerings. Now, not only is the pricing atrocious. They did it with no warning! No messages or emails before hand, nothing. And on top of that they tried to right it off as a "minor change". As if a 1000% increase to my billing is "minor" and no I'm not even exaggerating. And the best part? It's not even for a service they provide. They are trying to get people to pay for git contributors. so in essence the service that GitHub or Bitbucket or whoever you use for git is providing.
  • The only con is that the price is quite high apart from that you can use this for basic purposes in free tier.
  • The documentation can be slightly introduced as beginners find it a little difficult to understand.
  • - Netlify doesn't follow the traditional model like hosting with WordPress on your hosting site so it might be a little confusing at first.
  • - Not as feature rich compared to something like Drupal or Joomla.
