About

When we think about what essential infrastructure for the Internet needs to be prepared for though, we’re not thinking about normal days. We want to be prepared to respond as best we can to the most difficult situations that might arise. To enable HTTPS on your website, you need to get a certificate (a type of file) from a Certificate Authority (CA). Let’s Encrypt is a CA. In order to get a certificate for your website’s domain from Let’s Encrypt, you have to demonstrate control over the domain. With Let’s Encrypt, you do this using software that uses the ACME protocol which typically runs on your web host. To figure out what method will work best for you, you will need to know whether you have shell access (also known as SSH access) to your web host. If you manage your website entirely through a control panel like cPanel, Plesk, or WordPress, there’s a good chance you don’t have shell access. You can ask your hosting provider to be sure.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • We have been pleased with our Website Security from GoDaddy. It gives peace of mind that our websites are constantly being monitored for problems and outages.
  • Comes as an addon to hosting package Minimal config needed SSL certificates included Robust - Provides automate scheduled backup Frequent discounts
  • SSL Certificate Automated Backup Custom monitors and real time email alerts Malware removal Speed boost
  • It's very easy to deploy and implement on the website. Easy to install an SSL certificate. It helps to protect and makes website safe to browse. It also has an additional website backup feature. Malware protection.
  • GoDaddy is very template oriented. They charge a lot for SSL certificates in comparison to other hosting providers.

Cons

  • The only negative I would list is that it's somewhat pricey. But can you put a cost on your site's health these days? I think not.
  • Most other webhosts provide similar features at free or very minimal charges so only recommended for GoDaddy users.
  • Expensive as compared to other providers which provides some of the features at no or very less additional cost.
  • Overall it's an outstanding website security provider.
  • Too overpriced for what they offer in their plans.
