About

FactSnap is a Chrome extension that serves as a reliable fact-checking companion, allowing users to verify information while browsing the web. By highlighting text and clicking the FactSnap icon, users receive immediate feedback on the accuracy of statements, categorized as accurate, suspicious, or incorrect. The tool leverages AI to compare claims against relevant online sources, promoting critical thinking and helping combat the spread of misinformation. FactSnap does not require users to create an account and is designed with user privacy in mind, processing and collecting data related to usage without storing personal data unless explicitly provided. It utilizes third-party tools such as Groq, Llama 3, exa.sh, and GPT-4o for fact-checking, each adhering to its own data privacy standards. Developed by Studio NAND, FactSnap is part of the AI4Democracy initiative, aiming to foster a healthier, more informed society.

About

Nobody wants generic, unverified AI slop on their website. That is the fear this was built around. Mastheads is an editorial pipeline, not an AI writer that hands you a first draft and stops. It researches the topic against real sources. It writes under a real named byline, in a voice you set. It passes the draft through fact-check, standards and editor desks before you ever see it, and every article arrives showing what was checked and what fell short. Then you press Publish. It publishes to seven platforms - WordPress.org, WordPress.com, Ghost, Webflow, Shopify, HubSpot and GoHighLevel - or hands you the drafts if you do not run a site. If you run more than one site, the unit here is the site, not the article: up to 20 from one dashboard, each with its own voice, language and country. Free 7-day trial, 10 articles, no card.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I’ve been using Mastheads for around two months, and the biggest thing that stands out is the quality of the writing. It does not feel like a typical AI writer that simply generates generic content from a prompt. The output feels much closer to editorial-grade writing, with better structure, research, sourcing, tone, and overall article quality. I especially like how Mastheads combines research and writing into one workflow. It can help find relevant information and sources, build a properly structured article, maintain a consistent writing style, check claims, and even generate supporting visuals. This makes it feel more like an AI editorial assistant than just another text generator. The interface is clean, the workflow is easy to understand, and it saves a significant amount of time when creating long-form content without sacrificing quality.

Cons

  • I haven’t experienced any major issues during my roughly two months of use. Because Mastheads has quite a few publishing and editorial features, it can take a little time at first to understand everything the platform can do. I would also like to see even more customization and advanced editorial controls added over time, but these are relatively minor points.

In AI writing, most of the category stops at the draft. Mastheads does not. It researches before it writes and cites what it used. It writes under a named byline in a voice you set. Every article goes through fact-check, standards and editor desks that are allowed to hold it back, and it arrives showing what was checked and what fell short. The final say stays with the writer or editor. From there it publishes into any of seven platforms - WordPress.org, WordPress.com, Ghost, Webflow, Shopify, HubSpot, GoHighLevel - in any language.
