About

Use Facebook to live stream a chat, show, Q&A, or virtual event, or sell products through a live video. Learn how to make personal connections and create shared experiences with Facebook Live. You can go live on your Page, group, profile, or event using the Facebook app on your mobile device or by using a camera and streaming software (also known as an "encoder"). If you want to broadcast live with a camera and encoder, you should use Live Producer. If you go live from a desktop or laptop, you'll automatically be directed to Live Producer, which is also the way to go live on Facebook with higher-end production equipment and streaming software. With live polls, easily create polls before a broadcast starts and share them with fans during the broadcast.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Easy to use when it actually works. Other than that not much is really good about it. It rarely does.
  • Very easy to broadcast to a live audience on the largest scale possible. Have a great audience reach.
  • It is easy to use in the application or with a computer system internet browser, and also quite reliable. Furthermore, the analysis and metrics offered are extremely valuable, as well as allowing you to customize your discussion to better reach your target market. In addition, I particularly valued the choice of using a wireless microphone connected to a laptop for the programs; this has ensured that our visitors hear with exceptional quality.
  • Simple as it Works from within Facebook. Easy to get audience. Works from both desktop and mobile. Supports multi stream softwares like Restream.
  • Easy to use. Works right from Facebook website or app itself. Decent video quality & low bandwidth usage. Watch party feature.

Cons

  • No reach, viewers, visibility, hides comments, cuts out, kicks off viewers, cuts out sound.
  • The support feature provided by Facebook can be improved.
  • Sometimes it will certainly remove a longer webcast, however, there are ways to resolve this hassle. Analyzes are also not readily available on the mobile app, you can only access them on a computer system. Not a big problem, but it would certainly be appropriate to be able to consult them on the go, rather than having to wait until you are back at work.
  • No analytics feature. Full of low quality streams ( content wise ).
  • Needs moderation on content . No innovative features. Doesn't not allow collaborative streaming - like Squad streaming feature of twitch.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • First off, there is an Error in this comparison description. vMix is not made or affiliated in any way with NewTek. That being said vMix is the premiere new kid on the block that have raised the bar significantly for everyone else, including NewTek. (although NewTek is mainly a hardware solution with software) vMix has excelled in newer, popular features and seems to be coming out with more features every six months or so. I see how all the "Old-School" companies are bad-mouthing vMix as being "just a toy" because they are genuinely scared of losing their clientele to vMix... as they should be. vMix has boldly added just about everything, but the kitchen sink, and they don't apologize for it. Everything it does, it does well, or at least pretty darned well. Their integration of dedicated Call-In features along with NDI & SRT support is notably featured and it all comes at an affordable price.

Cons

  • It's hard to post cons as I really really had to think hard to come up with a couple aspects that I honestly think they might be taken as trite points. vMix's User Interface feels a little clunky making the learning curve just a bit harder than it has to be. The program writers who designed this platform are obviously not seasoned Professional Content Producers (as seen in their own sales and weekly promotional pieces). This leaves us with a kind of "Computer-Geeky made" software that does not always fit in the "traditional" production environment that we're comfortably used to. That's not to say that there aren't work-a-rounds and/or newer ways to skin a cat. Also, there are a few features that any professional would think should have been obvious and included, that for the life of me, I can't understand that after many many feature requests, the nice fella's down under just don't seem to implement or even entertain the thought of adding certain features. One, for example would be some sort of a waiting "Green" room for the Call-In folks. Whoever comes up with this protocol first IMHO is going to instantly garner the whole market... like overnight.
