About

Lingard is a language-learning app that builds vocabulary through reading. It offers graded books, stories and news for CEFR levels A1–C2, and lets learners import their own texts and ebooks. Tapping a word opens an AI-powered, in-context dictionary with word forms, synonyms and common word combinations. Learners can save words and practice with spaced-repetition flashcards, listening, speaking and spelling exercises. Books include audio narration, and pronunciation checks support speaking practice. Lingard supports English, Spanish, German and French learning, with a multilingual interface and synchronized books, vocabulary and progress across web, iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android. A free version is available; Lingard Pro unlocks the full library through weekly, monthly, three-month or annual subscriptions, with availability varying by platform and region. Lingard Vocab provides an MCP server that lets compatible AI assistants create topic vocabulary collections in a Lingard account.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Simple to use, cute design, variety of different interesting lessons, can be curious for kids in account of its kind of game-alike studying system.
  • I rated this all five stars not to be lazy, but because it is actually that good. Duolingo makes learning fun through different interactions; writing, talking, drawing, etc. I also love how you can do Duolingo on your phone, that way you truly can practice each and every day. No matter how busy a person is, they can find 10-30 minutes a day to spend time on their phone.
  • I love the creative ways that Duolingo teaches me any new language of choice! They have expanded so much with the resources and lessons they have to offer.
  • - Duolingo is one of the few language applications that really works. - The intuitive environment helps to English-speaking fluency. - The teachers are experienced and makes the users comfortable to talk to, resulting in increasing the spoken English or any other language skills. - The user interface of the application in intuitive and easy to understand, also, it is available on both android and iOS. - It also has a free trial which helps in trying the service before paying.
  • This simple app contains a wealth of knowledge for learning languages. Its gamification of language learning means that we always find reasons to go back and keep trying our best at advancing our skills.

Cons

  • Might be slightly annoying with constant, frequent reminders, although it also may serve as a good way to keep you consistent with learning.
  • If you do the free version there are definitely limitations, so if you are very serious about learning the language I would pay for the product in full.
  • That you can run out of hearts with the free version of the app, but that helps me to focus more and not want to get any wrong.
  • - The push notifications can be annoying sometimes.
  • Sometimes it gets obnoxious with notifications when you want to step away from Duolingo. It can oversaturate itself and lead to burnout.
