Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • At this point, dropbox is one of the few apps I rely on regularly for both work and personal projects. Between work projects, personal files, and random documents I swear I'll organize someday, dropbox has become one of the apps I rely on the most. Most of my work involves sharing documents, project files, and folders with other people, and dropbox makes that process super easy. I like that I can save something on my laptop and access it later from my phone or another computer without having to email files to myself (which I used to do way more than I'd like to admit).
  • I’ve been using Dropbox mainly for storing and sharing documents with my team, and it works really well. The syncing across devices is smooth, and I never have to worry about losing files.
  • I like the automatic synchronization ensures that documents are always up to date on all devices. In addition, collaboration features such as document comments and shared folders facilitate teamwork and improve communication. Security is another advantage, with encryption and two-factor authentication options that protect our sensitive data.
  • Dropbox's security is a highlight. It uses encryption both in transit and at rest, which is crucial for protecting sensitive company data. The ability to set detailed file sharing permissions helps ensure that only authorized people can access critical information. In addition, integration with other productivity tools and platforms is a major benefit.
  • I use Dropbox regularly, and I find it super helpful for keeping my files safe and organized. It is easy to use, and I love how I can access my documents on any device, whether it is my phone, tablet, laptop or even through a web browser. The synchronization feature is great, and it ensures that my files are always up to date. The security is top notch too, with encryption that keeps my file very safe. I also love the fact that Dropbox integrates smoothly with other products like Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, making collaboration more convenient without switching platforms. Another great feature is the offline access, which allows me to work on files even without Internet. Also, I can restore deleted files or access previous versions, which is a lifesaver when things go wrong.

Cons

  • The biggest downside is the limited storage on the free plan. If you work with large files like videos, high-resolution images, or project archives, you'll probably run out of space much faster than expected. The paid plans solve this issue, but they can feel a bit expensive compared to some competing cloud storage services. I've also noticed that syncing large folders can occasionally be slower than I'd like, especially when uploading a lot of files at once. Another minor frustration is that sharing permissions can sometimes be confusing, particularly when collaborating with multiple people on different folders and projects. While none of these issues are dealbreakers, they can occasionally interrupt an otherwise smooth experience.
  • Free storage is quite limited compared to other cloud services
  • One aspect that can be frustrating is permissions management, which is sometimes confusing and requires detailed attention to avoid access errors.
  • While security is generally good, the lack of full control over the storage infrastructure can be a concern for some companies that handle highly sensitive information.
  • One downside of Dropbox is that the free plan only gives you 2GB of storage, which can fill up fast, if you have a lot of files. Also, the platform's search feature is not the best as it can be tricky to find files based on specific details like size or type.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I appreciate that Filestack offers an easy integration via API, which really simplifies the process for me. I like how it abstracts away the file transformation bit, including functions like file resize, compress, and convert transformations. Filestack's built-in validation and security provide peace of mind, and I'm impressed by their cloud storage and CDN solutions. As someone constantly deciding between building things in-house or using third-party solutions, Filestack makes outsourcing file handling, storage, and CDN an attractive option.
  • Features a proprietary Content Ingestion Network (CIN) designed to make uploads, especially mobile uploads more reliable. Transformation tools via API. I can easily transform, resize, convert, optimize, and apply effects to images, videos, and documents before they are delivered. This includes format conversions like WEBP to JPG, In addition powerful AI features capabilities like object detection, explicit/unsafe content detection, image tagging, OCR.
  • Handles uploads, conversions, storage & delivery in one API — saves tons of time and reduces dev headaches.
  • Filestack makes uploading files so much easier. Its AI capabilities, like auto-tagging and OCR, save a lot of time, and the CDN support loads files quickly. Filestack is a great choice for smooth file handling!
  • I love that it has loads of source integrations, Built-in CDN, and AI features

Cons

  • Pricing is a very minor concern, for smaller usage it’s fine, but as file volume increases, the costs can mount up Onboarding is straightforward for basic use, but when trying to handle more specific requirements, I had to spend extra time understanding certain parts.
  • Complex workflows require to study closely the documentation to know everything that Filestack offer. in the early day it's important to monitor the billing to understand how much it cost. in particular when using CPU heavy features like AI and converting/resizing.
  • Limited free plan, some features are locked early.
  • Filestack gets expensive as your project grows. While the cost may be a concern for small teams or startups, the performance and reliability can justify it for bigger projects.
  • Filestack gets expensive as the project grows, and the cost can constrain the budget. Also, the docs are lacking
