About

DroneFTP is a pay-as-you-go cloud photogrammetry processing service for drone pilots, surveyors, engineers, GIS professionals, environmental consultants, and construction teams. Users upload drone imagery through a simple web-based workflow, and DroneFTP handles the computationally intensive processing in the cloud. Deliverables include georeferenced orthomosaics, Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), LAZ point clouds, and contours for use in GIS, CAD, surveying, engineering, construction, and environmental workflows. DroneFTP eliminates the need for expensive dedicated processing workstations and recurring photogrammetry software subscriptions. It can also provide supplemental processing capacity for firms experiencing workload spikes. Photogrammetry processing starts at $10 per GB with no monthly or annual subscription required.

About

IGiS Photogrammetry Suite provides a one click photogrammetry solution for converting digital images to 3D. IGiS Photogrammetry Suite highly supports fully automated geodesy and photogrammetry tools for converting image to 3D, Dynamic and Automated Processing Workflow, High Accuracy Outputs and DEM Photogrammetry Modeling, Editing and Analysis. Photogrammetry uses aerial shots or drone photos or satellite images to determine the spatial properties and dimensions of the objects/features captured in the photographic image. IGiS Photogrammetry Suite a product of IGiS powered by Scanpoint Geomatics Limited brings off one click photogrammetry solution for processing digital images and converting the same to 3D, which will be an useful input for GIS software, special effect building and to take proxy measurement of objects of different scales.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Cost-Effective: Compared to traditional surveying methods, photogrammetry can be more cost-effective. It eliminates the need for expensive equipment and reduces the time required for data collection in the field. High Accuracy: With proper planning and execution, photogrammetry can achieve high levels of accuracy in 3D modeling and mapping. Advanced software and algorithms can refine and optimize the generated models. Versatility: Photogrammetry can be applied in various fields, including topography, archaeology, forestry, urban planning, and more. It is a versatile technology that can be adapted to different industries and applications. Non-Destructive: Unlike some traditional surveying methods, photogrammetry is non-destructive. It doesn't require physical contact with the object or terrain being measured, making it suitable for delicate or sensitive environments. Remote Sensing: Photogrammetry allows for data collection from a distance, enabling the mapping and modeling of large and inaccessible areas, such as mountains, forests, or urban landscapes. Time Efficiency: The data collection process in photogrammetry can be quicker compared to traditional surveying methods. The ability to capture a large amount of information in a short time is particularly advantageous for time-sensitive projects.

Cons

  • Dependence on Weather Conditions: Photogrammetry relies on the quality of images, and adverse weather conditions such as rain, fog, or poor lighting can affect the accuracy of data collection. Processing Complexity: The processing of photogrammetric data can be complex and computationally intensive. Generating accurate and detailed 3D models often requires specialized software and significant computing power. Limited Ground Resolution: The resolution of the generated models is dependent on the quality and resolution of the images captured. In some cases, ground details may not be as high as desired. Sensitivity to Camera Calibration: Photogrammetry requires precise camera calibration to ensure accurate results. Any errors in the camera calibration process can lead to inaccuracies in the final 3D model. Lack of Real-Time Data: While the data collection process itself can be quick, the processing and generation of 3D models usually take time. This lack of real-time data may be a limitation in some applications. Skill and Training: Effective implementation of photogrammetry requires a certain level of expertise and training. Users need to be familiar with both the fieldwork and the software tools used in the data processing pipeline.
