Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros With its "Droplets" virtual computers, DigitalOcean makes it simple for users to build and manage instances. Droplets offer versatility for a range of workloads since they are available in several sizes and combinations. - Great cost to value ratio. Even though the droplets are not the cheapest ones, I managed to host several open source tools on a single droplet via Docker and all of them are running smoothly. - Easy droplets management. I was able to create new subdomains, make backups and monitor the droplet via web-interface. - Apps marketplace is nice, there are a lot of pre-configures services that can be deployed almost in one click. But be careful, It can easily increase the overall prices! High performance & security Easy to use APIs On demand scalability One click install CMS solution Good documentation & tutorials Free 100$ credit for trying out Super reliable and easy to set up especially if using it on Cloudways. We haven't had any issues at all. Cons Although substantial, DigitalOcean's service offering is not as broad as that of other major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Certain services might not be sufficient for businesses with complicated infrastructure demands. - Referral program and bonuses are almost non-existent. You can use only one(!) coupon code per account and the referral bonuses are non-recurring. - Droplets are not managed. It means that it's user's responsibility to provide security of the VPS. If some software needs to be installed, it should be done manually. For basic hosting purposes, plans are expensive compared to other hosting websites. Not for beginners. Nothing that I dislike about digital ocean as they're awesome.	Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros Netlify has a nice platform, and the CMS is a nice touch. They also USED to have good service pricing but now everyone is leaving because of how bad it is. The pros of using Netlify are that you cannot find any other easy software to host you web app. You can directly host you Github repository. It has crash reposts and logging, so it makes development much more easy. Easy to use. Integration with different version control sites makes it fast. Free to use. Easy deployment of websites. - The biggest pro is that Netlify lets you host your first site for free. This is a blessing for those getting started with blogging since they do not have to pay any hosting fee. - Netlify makes it a walk in the park to setup a static site and integrate it with GitHub. It removes all the clutter that other CMS platforms have. Cons Netlify attracted a bunch of people to their platform through good competitive pricing and offerings. Now, not only is the pricing atrocious. They did it with no warning! No messages or emails before hand, nothing. And on top of that they tried to right it off as a "minor change". As if a 1000% increase to my billing is "minor" and no I'm not even exaggerating. And the best part? It's not even for a service they provide. They are trying to get people to pay for git contributors. so in essence the service that GitHub or Bitbucket or whoever you use for git is providing. The only con is that the price is quite high apart from that you can use this for basic purposes in free tier. The documentation can be slightly introduced as beginners find it a little difficult to understand. - Netlify doesn't follow the traditional model like hosting with WordPress on your hosting site so it might be a little confusing at first. - Not as feature rich compared to something like Drupal or Joomla.
