Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros * The context awareness is the best I've seen (knows my whole repo). * The quality of the autocomplete/supercomplete is excellent. * New features all the time and they're actually good. It's helpful for any project with little bits of help it gets you really far, gets you to the finish line. - Smart business model. Compared to the raw ChatGPT model you don't feel that message limit, and even when you do, you have plenty of other competitive models to use while you're getting back your capacity. - Auto-completion is useful, but it's pretty much for any assistant - They are listening. Compared to the whales in this niche they do hear us and quickly react, reflect, and implement leading ideas. The autocomplete is easily my favorite feature and the one I use the most. It gets better as you develop more and it really does a great job of understanding your coding style and adapting to it. The conversation chat is also really helpful when I have general app architecture or syntax related questions. I also find myself using the inline commenting feature quite frequently and I love not having to type out all the comments myself. Using Codeium has made refactor suggestions easy by having the ability to highlight specific sections of the code within an IDE! I specifically use VS Code and it has been working pretty smoothly. I also like having the option of having a chat box so that I can discuss other topics. Cons * The documentation is lacking. * They have the option to use their own models or OpenAI or Anthropic but there's no quantitative comparison of their quality. Content awareness, chat focus, working folder awareness. - The "Ctrl + I" code generator I found to be exceptionally useless. It breaks or deteriorates your code. - GPT-4o is overrated. Although I use the inline action buttons a decent amount, sometimes they clutter the code as I am trying to read through the file. I am not sure if there is an easy way to add a keyboard shortcut that allows for toggling these on/off, but if there is, that would be a nice feature to add. Codeium sometimes struggles to connect to my IDE and I am unable to use. I haven't been able to figure out the cause of this but sometimes I am unable to use Coddium for a couple days and then all of the sudden it is back.	Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros OpenCode feels like a strong fit for developers who want an AI coding agent without getting locked into one model or one editor. I like that it works in the terminal, desktop, and IDE, so it can fit into different workflows instead of forcing one setup. The model flexibility is a big win. Being able to use 75+ providers, local models, GitHub Copilot, or ChatGPT Plus/Pro makes OpenCode feel more open and customizable than a lot of coding assistants. I also like the LSP support and multi-session workflow. For real coding work, it helps when the agent understands the project better and can run multiple threads of work in parallel. Easy to install Easy to use Free models available with nearly no limits New models commonly get added for free Cons OpenCode is still something I would supervise closely. Any coding agent that can modify files, reason through projects, and run workflows needs clear review, tests, and good developer judgment. CLI only
