About

Mongrel is a desktop database systems workbench that unifies 30+ database engines, terminals, file transfer, containers, Kubernetes, and an API client in one native app for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Query PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, SQL Server, Oracle, Redis, ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, and more in native SQL or engine dialects. Edit data inline, drill through foreign keys, run EXPLAIN plans, design schemas on a visual ER canvas, sync data between databases, and schedule encrypted backups. Built-in SSH/Mosh/Telnet/Serial terminals, SFTP/SCP file transfer, Docker and Podman management, Kubernetes operations, and an HTTP/GraphQL/WebSocket/gRPC client replace a stack of tools. An opt-in AI assistant supports OpenAI-compatible, Anthropic, and Gemini providers, with keys in your OS keychain and writes always approval-gated. Mongrel is local-first: your queries, data, and logs never leave your machine. All plans include every feature; start with a 7-day trial, no card required.

Pros from Real Users

Pros

  • Very flexible. Came from a background a couple of years using Toad, but much prefer DB viz, and its a good price for such a comprehensive tool. I use with mysql, mariadb, postgres, mongo, clickhouse. Easy connection set up - good ssh tunnelling options etc. Good autocompletion in editor. Nice set of data export tools etc. Very stable, not had it crash on me even with dozens of sql editor tabs open.
  • Ease of use, support for many databases, intuitive, in grid editing. Settings export so I can easily move between laptop and desktop.
  • New features coming along the way each release. Company listen to customers support ticket on bug fix.
  • Ease of use and cross platform connections. I operate multiple database across windows and MacOS and DbVisualzer to manage all from the one platform
  • My favorite feature in DbVisualizer is Query Builder. Being able to drag and drop tables onto a canvas and visually join them together and the filter and choose the columns that I want to return from the query is a huge time savings for me
  • Easy to use and has many features. I have been using DBVisualizer for more than 7 years. I suggest to use the PRO version.
  • DBVisualizer is one of the most powerful and reliable database tools I have used. It supports a wide range of databases out of the box and provides a consistent, intuitive interface across all of them. The SQL editor is excellent, with strong auto-completion and performance even on large datasets. I especially appreciate the advanced features for query analysis, data visualization, and schema browsing. The tool is very stable, regularly updated, and works seamlessly across platforms. For professional use, it significantly improves productivity.
  • The visualization of table relationships is very easy to understand, as well as connecting to new databases and creating different projects within DBVisualizer.
  • DbVisualizer simplifies most aspects of DDL & DML by providing a simple, intuitive and user-friendly interface that just makes sense. The ability to connect to most databases, reach out to support that actually listens and helps are just the cherry on the top.
  • I have used DBVisualizer for more than 10 years. It has become an indispensable part of my daily workflow. It covers almost all known RDMBS and as long as you have a JDBC driver, you can use it. I also like that they continue to improve the user experience by adding new features to it.
