Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Version Control: Leveraging Git for content management provides robust version control. This allows for tracking changes, rolling back to previous versions, and collaborative editing without overwriting each other's work. Security: Your content is stored in your own repository, which is as secure as the hosting service you use. Scalability: Thanks to Serverless architecture, you can scale your CMS needs according to your traffic demands, making it cost-effective. Developer-Friendly: Being Git-based, developers can easily integrate Contentrain into their workflows. Flexibility: As a headless CMS, Contentrain can push content to any frontend, offering great flexibility.

Cons

  • Dependency on Git: The CMS's performance is tied to the reliability of the Git hosting service used. Lack of Traditional CMS Features: As a headless CMS, it may lack some features that traditional CMS platforms offer like in-built templating.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Strapi has become useful to Sefaria beyond its function as a traditional CMS, especially for making our small-donor fundraising more efficient. It powers the targeted sidebar ads, banners, and modals in our web app so that non-engineering staff can configure campaigns directly in Strapi without code changes or deployments. Because we're using Strapi headlessly, we can also use it to serve content to our mobile app. We've built custom API endpoints with a data structure customized for the mobile app's fundraising notifications. In both cases, staff use the same editor to manage content, while the web and mobile apps consume it independently. This lets fundraising and marketing make content changes without needing engineering support each time.
  • Easy first time build. Very good user interface and user experience. Easy integration with other tools
  • I like using Strapi because it allows me to publish and update our project information and pictures without needing to do manual updates directly to the code. This is especially beneficial since we use a static website, and it helps us save money by avoiding the costs associated with server payments, such as those we would incur with platforms like WordPress. I appreciate the templates in Strapi, which significantly speed up the process of defining our project's structure, eliminating the need to delve into coding. This feature is particularly advantageous because it simplifies the setup process, allowing for a more efficient workflow.
  • Robust headless CMS with intuitive admin UI, flexible APIs, strong plugin ecosystem, great documentation, reliable community support and responsive updates
  • Strapi Cloud has been a game-changer for our nonprofit—easy to use, flexible, and perfect for managing content efficiently without needing a large tech team. The low prices of Strapi Cloud free up valuable resources, allowing our nonprofit to invest more in community programs, outreach efforts, and direct support for those we serve.

Cons

  • I don't have anything noteworthy that is a negtive/con
  • Multi languages support is too weak. i18n should be better
  • I find the deployment process using GitHub and requiring a manual install initially to be cumbersome. This approach introduces extra steps, which can be quite daunting for non-technical users, effectively acting as a barrier.
  • Self-hosting requires maintenance, initial configuration complexity, occasional breaking changes, plugin compatibility gaps, enterprise features behind paid plans and learning curve
  • Not any as now but just one downside is the limited built-in analytics, which means we rely on external tools to track content performance and user engagement.
