About

Codehooks is a new and simplified backend-as-a-service to create complete API backends with JavaScript / Node.JS. Enjoy smooth and fast backend development with ZERO config serverless JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.js with integrated NoSQL document Database, Key-Value store, CRON Jobs and Queue Workers. The document database is built with RocksDB and provides a MongoDB-ish query language.

About

Cloud Firestore is a fast, fully managed, serverless, cloud-native NoSQL document database that simplifies storing, syncing, and querying data for your mobile, web, and IoT apps at global scale. Its client libraries provide live synchronization and offline support, while its security features and integrations with Firebase and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) accelerate the building of truly serverless apps. Firestore offers a great developer experience with built-in live synchronization, offline support, and ACID transactions. These features are available across a robust set of client and server-side libraries. Firestore automatically scales up and down based on demand. It requires no maintenance and provides high availability of 99.99–99.999% achieved through strongly consistent data replication. No-ops database lets you pay only for what you use—no up-front expenditure or underutilized resources. Simplified architecture lets your apps talk directly to Firestore.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • 1. The data gets stored in real time. 2. Data can be manipulated right from the console as well. 3. Easy to integrate with any web application or mobile application. 4. Live monitoring of data. 5. Robust, secure and easy to use.
  • - The best feature of Cloud Firestore is that it is very easy to get started, the documentation provided by Google is amazing and helps a lot while using or searching for features and its application. - It has built-in integration with cloud function. - Data can be accessed anywhere in the world with top-notch security.
  • A very must feature of any mobile application is, its capability to store data on the cloud as people are limited to physical storage and want to access the same data from many devices. I am a developer, and I use Firestore for the very same purpose. It is effortlessly easy to implement Firestore in your app. To make it more optimum for developers, it stores data in JSON format, which comes very useful when retrieving data from the Firestore.

Cons

  • 1. The authorization rules could be more customizable.
  • - It does not support complex queries. - Network speed gets slow sometimes.
  • Firestore is made for developers, and Google has considered all the possible feature needed to make it an ideal choice for app development. I am using it for a while now and haven't faced any major cons.
