About

Clipy is a free, no-watermark screen recorder for Mac, Chrome, and the web. It was built by Codersera as the recorder its team wished existed: hit record, stop, paste a share link. No watermark, no five-minute cap, no signup wall for the person watching. The recording flow is free in the same way a tape measure is free — it's a tool, not a tier. Clipy ships in three places, each tuned to where its users already work. The native Apple Silicon menu-bar app for macOS records to a hotkey and streams the upload as it captures, so the share link is ready the moment Stop is pressed. The Chrome extension records screen, tab, window, or webcam from inside the browser most users already have open — works on Windows, Linux, ChromeOS, and macOS. And the browser-based recorder at clipy.online runs without an install, useful when neither the Mac app nor an extension is appropriate. Every recording produces an instantly shareable link.

About

ScreenBuddy is a screen recorder and video editor in one desktop app, for macOS 12+ (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows 10+ 64-bit. The recorder captures the click track, and that data drives the zoom system: zoom moves are generated from it rather than placed by hand, 1.25x to 5x, smoothly interpolated. Each one lands on the timeline as an editable object, so it can be retimed, rescaled or removed. There is no keyframing step. Also included: spotlight and lightbox focus effects, a 3D camera with orbit and depth of field, a three.js MacBook device frame, 18 backdrops plus custom images, seven aspect ratios, timeline annotations, a webcam overlay that shrinks on zoom, local AI captions, crop and trim. Exports are MP4 or GIF up to source resolution. Recordings and edits stay on the device; internet access is required for license activation and update checks. One-time license: 29.99 USD until 15 August 2026, then 49 USD. No subscription; future updates included.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Clipy has been great to use. The interface is clean, recording is straightforward, and sharing videos is quick. I like that I can create and send recordings without any unnecessary steps. Overall, a smooth and convenient experience.
  • 1. I’ve been using Clipy as my main screen recorder for around 6–7 months for internal updates, product walkthroughs, and bug reports, and it’s become my default tool very quickly. 2. The core workflow is perfect for async work: I hit record, finish, click stop, and the shareable link is ready almost instantly. 3. Viewers don’t need to sign up to watch; they just click the link and the recording plays in their browser, which removes a lot of friction compared with other tools I’ve used. 4. The free plan is generous: unlimited recording time, no watermark, and screen + mic recording without a hard 5‑minute limit or strict cap on the number of recordings. 5. The interface feels lightweight and simple instead of bloated, so there’s almost no learning curve.

Cons

  • Not much customization options for recordings, such as annotations or highlights
  • 1. In some full‑screen recordings, the webcam overlay has glitched and disappeared mid‑recording, which is frustrating when you want your face visible the whole time. 2. The built‑in editor is fairly basic; precise trimming, cutting sections from the middle, or making a polished marketing‑ready video usually requires exporting to another tool. 3. Compared with Loom, Clipy currently lacks AI‑powered features and richer engagement tools like advanced annotations, viewer insights, or deeper analytics.
