Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • The service was adequate when it was worked. We didn't experience buffering or sound issues on the weeks where it worked.
  • It works with Wirecast that we use in-house. Not much better than other streaming services that are available.
  • Annual premiums will not be prorated should you cancel 1-2 months into the renewed term. Annual means annual. No refunds.

Cons

  • Signed up for a free trial, was charged instantly. Even though we did the same process each week, it only worked 7 of the 10 weeks we used the service. When we cancelled (because of merging with another church), they billed me for an invoice that for the month which started 4 days after our cancellation. Acknowledged that it was for the month after cancellation, but would not refund the month.
  • ChurchStreaming.tv support is horrible. Time of response is horrible. Definitely not helpful when stuck during your Sunday service that gives you problems. It appears to be a one man team support. Not sure what is going on but not a streaming service I want to keep paying for.
  • Annual termed contract.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Clevercast's AI speech-to-text and machine translation for live streaming is wonderfully accurate. Subtitles and audio translations are always in-sync. We've used it on multiple occasions for events with up to 16 languages, it always worked fine without any issues. Also a nice feature: Clevercast lets you simulcast streams with with audio and subtitle language of choice, for example to YouTube (finally a solution for the low quality of YouTube subs). Finally, their live stream quality is great, with stable global delivery (even in China).
  • Clevercast is a multilingual live streaming platform, which I've used in the past for remote interpretation. This time my client needed subtitles in 12 languages, including Chinese. This is possible through speech-to-text (AI). The AI quality is already very good, but even better is that someone can still edit the captions in real-time, before they get translated by the AI and streamed. This way, you can correct small AI errors, for example in names.
  • It's like a Swiss army knife for multilingual livestreams, with features you can't find elsewhere. Just about everything is possible: broadcast with multiple audio streams, remote interpretation, multilingual captions, AI captioning and translation ... And most importantly: everything just works without a hitch. You can paste an embed code for their multilingual player to appear in your event platform (Swapcard in our case).

Cons

  • They have a ton of features, some part of their basic solution, some at an additional cost. So it is not always clear which feature is optional and which isn't. I recommend to just ask their support team, which is very responsive. Also, because of all these features, their platform may seem a bit challenging at first. Again, as a new user, be sure to contact their support. If necessary, request a quick runthrough in a virtual meeting. For me, this provided immediate clarity.
  • The service is not cheap, but the platform works great and their support is also very good.
  • If your livestream generates a lot of data traffic, their monthly plans can be a little pricey. They don't do 'pay as you go', but you can solve that by taking an annual plan. The price is worth it, though. Their global livestream delivery is better (high quality, seamless, no viewer complaints) than all other solutions we've tried before.
