Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Honestly, everything is fantastic. Been using it from Nov 2017, after coming from LastPass (don't get me started on that mess of a company!). I love the self hosting option, open source nature, and full transparency of the company. Also like that you can lock down your account even more by using two factor 3rd party devices like YubiKey.
  • Open source. Full end to end encryption. Supports 2 factor authentication. Encrypted file attachments. Free for personal use (basic features). Works across all devices.
  • BitWarden has been put through its paces by independent researchers, is feature packed and is available on just about every platform you can imagine.
  • The best thing about it is its open source. Supports many platform and has great user interface. Also support command line tools for developers. Secure and self hosting features.
  • I've been using Bitwarden for over a year now and it is by far the best password keeper that I have tested. It is open-source which provides me with peace of mind and it integrates well with all the browsers I use. I pay a yearly plan of $10/year which is very inexpensive and secure.

Cons

  • None so far in the 8 years I been using it. It does the job as a password manager very well.
  • No cons - it's free and open source making it much better than competition.
  • Then UI isn't as slick as others, but I'm not losing sleep over it.
  • No cons so far. It's a reliable open source secure software.
  • Everything is fine but the Safari extension is needed, it installs native Mac OS app even for Safari extension.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • - Ease of use - its integration with chrome and its Windows application - its secure sharing system
  • From a user point of view has everything you need. Easy to use, syncable etc. A user shouldn't need more from a password manager.
  • Proton Pass is a solid and reliable password manager. It’s fast, secure, and the interface is clean and easy to use. I really like the peace of mind that comes with Proton’s focus on privacy and security.
  • We've been using Proton Pass for Business across our organization, and it's been a game-changer for how we manage credentials and sensitive data. From day one, the onboarding process was smooth, and the intuitive interface made it easy for our team to adopt with minimal training. What really sets Proton Pass apart is its commitment to privacy and security—built on the same foundation of trust that Proton is known for. End-to-end encryption ensures that only our team has access to our data, and the zero-access architecture gives us peace of mind that even Proton can’t see our stored information. The team management features are excellent: we can easily control access levels, manage permissions, and monitor usage across the organization. This level of administrative control is essential for compliance and internal security audits. Integration with other Proton services, like Proton Mail and Proton Drive, creates a powerful ecosystem for secure collaboration. Plus, the autofill capabilities, password generator, and secure sharing features make day-to-day work more efficient. If you're looking for a reliable, privacy-first password manager for your business, Proton Pass is an outstanding choice. It combines usability, top-tier encryption, and the ethical commitment to privacy that modern businesses need.

Cons

  • - The price of the "premium" plan - The application is not open source - Synchronization does not use verifiable end-to-end encryption
  • From an admin point of view. It needs to add more features for business. For example differentiate between company and user settings. Having a separate console/view to manage everything for the business will be great. Be able to view /manage all vaults in the company.
  • The only downside I’ve found is that importing passwords from other password managers doesn’t always work smoothly.
  • No Support for Emergency Access (Yet) One feature that’s missing — especially for businesses — is emergency or delegated access in case an admin or employee is unavailable. This could pose challenges in crisis situations.
