About

Passwork is a password manager built for security-conscious organizations, available as both a self-hosted (on-premise) solution and a secure cloud service. Developed and headquartered in Europe (Barcelona, Spain), Passwork meets GDPR, NIS2, ENS and other European regulatory requirements by design. The self-hosted version stores all passwords and credentials exclusively on your own server. Double-layer AES-256 encryption (server-side and client-side) with zero-knowledge architecture ensures your data stays within your infrastructure. For organizations seeking instant deployment without infrastructure overhead, Passwork Cloud provides a fully managed SaaS option. Hosted in secure data centers in Germany, the cloud platform operates on the same zero-knowledge model. Passwork is ISO/IEC 27001 certified. Both deployment options are trusted by enterprises for secure password sharing, privileged access management, and centralized credential governance.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Honestly, everything is fantastic. Been using it from Nov 2017, after coming from LastPass (don't get me started on that mess of a company!). I love the self hosting option, open source nature, and full transparency of the company. Also like that you can lock down your account even more by using two factor 3rd party devices like YubiKey.
  • Open source. Full end to end encryption. Supports 2 factor authentication. Encrypted file attachments. Free for personal use (basic features). Works across all devices.
  • BitWarden has been put through its paces by independent researchers, is feature packed and is available on just about every platform you can imagine.
  • The best thing about it is its open source. Supports many platform and has great user interface. Also support command line tools for developers. Secure and self hosting features.
  • I've been using Bitwarden for over a year now and it is by far the best password keeper that I have tested. It is open-source which provides me with peace of mind and it integrates well with all the browsers I use. I pay a yearly plan of $10/year which is very inexpensive and secure.

Cons

  • None so far in the 8 years I been using it. It does the job as a password manager very well.
  • No cons - it's free and open source making it much better than competition.
  • Then UI isn't as slick as others, but I'm not losing sleep over it.
  • No cons so far. It's a reliable open source secure software.
  • Everything is fine but the Safari extension is needed, it installs native Mac OS app even for Safari extension.

Pros from Real Users

Pros

  • We have been using Passwork for quite some time, and it has become an essential part of our daily work. It provides a secure and well-organized way to manage shared passwords, ensuring that our entire team has access to the credentials they need without compromising security.
• Very good pricing and offers multi-year discounts Good user and admin experience Good documentation Great password sharing options Better password organization compared to Bitwarden (I hated Bitwarden's collection design) Can be run air-gapped and self hosted Zero-knowledge server encryption is optional Supports SAML SSO and LDAP integration Audit log of access and changes to password entries
  • - UI is simple yet effective - Browser extension works great - Fast - Excellent user support - Cost-effective
  • The UI is simple but still does everything expected from the Product. It has all the necessary advanced features which can cater from small businesses to large enterprises. We evaluated a few alternatives, but Passwork ticked every requirement. Highly recommended app for anyone looking for a secured and simple Password management tool.
  • Ease of implementation Intuitive use Many integrations Tracking password usage Possibility of installation in your environment
  • What I like the most about Passwork is that you can organize credentials/passwords into folders and subfolders for a neat logical structure and you can give access just to particular folders.
  • - Modern UI - Fast - TOTP - Multiple language support - Easy installation - Multiple vaults and detailled rights management possible
  • Integration with various browsers and the smartphone app are unbeatable advantages. The web interface is simple and intuitive. It was the solution that enabled us to comply with the requirements of the ISO 27001 standard.
  • We needed a password manager that would include all company staff, with client-side encryption, and not only the technical staff. Passwork was able to provide that with a very simple and accessible interface for everyone. Moreover, the Passwork team provide fast-response support and improved the solution over time, adding the most needed features and performance improvements required to support very large companies/very high number of entries.
  • Passwork offers an incredibly intuitive interface that makes onboarding new team members a breeze. The self-hosted option provides peace of mind regarding data sovereignty, and the granular access controls allow us to manage permissions with precision. The integration with Active Directory is seamless and saves a lot of administrative time.
