About

BeaconFind is AI file search for Windows that runs entirely on your own machine. Press Ctrl+K and describe a file the way you would to a colleague, and it finds the document even when you cannot recall its name: "the rental contract with the deposit" finds scan0047.pdf. Ordinary search matches literal keywords, so "salary" misses a payslip that says "compensation", and a scanned PDF has no text to match at all. BeaconFind indexes what files are about. It reads 70+ file types including PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, code and email, matches across 50+ languages so an English search finds a German document, and uses OCR to read text inside screenshots and scans. It also answers questions about your documents with citations and finds duplicates. Every AI model runs locally. Files, their contents, your searches and the index stay on the machine, and there is no telemetry. Only a licence check and an update check reach our server, and both can be firewalled.

About

Livegrep is a tool, partially inspired by Google Code Search, for interactive regex search of ~gigabyte-scale source repositories. To run livegrep, you need to invoke both the codesearch backend index/search process, and the livegrep web interface. To run the sample web interface over livegrep itself, once you have built both codesearch and livegrep. The codesearch binary is responsible for reading source code, maintaining an index, and handling searches. livegrep is stateless and relies only on the connection to codesearch over a TCP connection. By default, codesearch will build an in-memory index over the repositories specified in its configuration file. You can, however, also instruct it to save the index to a file on disk. This has the dual advantages of allowing indexes that are too large to fit in RAM, and of allowing an index file to be reused.
