About

Automation Studio E9.0 – Educational Edition is an intuitive simulation platform that enables educators to train future technicians and engineers on hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and PLC systems through realistic, illustrated components and interactive virtual trainers. Since 1986, it has helped students build and troubleshoot circuits using libraries of thousands of 2D CAD and electrical symbols, plus 3D virtual systems via Unity 3D CAD. E9 adds a dedicated Forum for sharing demo files and custom libraries, premade virtual trainers for all technologies, remote e‑learning access, and tools to create digital twins of hardware. Users can customize symbol libraries, activate pre‑defined failures to develop troubleshooting skills, connect to real devices, and use virtual instruments (multimeter, clamp‑meter, oscilloscope, hydraulic tester, thermometer, manometer) to plot and analyze system behavior.

About

QElectroTech is a free, open source software designed for creating complex industrial electrical diagrams. It supports a wide range of diagram types, including electrical, plumbing, geothermal, air-conditioning, hydraulics, pneumatics, domotic, and photovoltaic systems, among others. With over 8,000 symbols available in the latest version, it allows users to create detailed technical diagrams across various fields. The software is licensed under the GNU/GPL license and is available for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux platforms. Its features include a flexible symbol library and user-friendly tools for creating professional-grade schematics. The software is supported by contributions from industrial companies and engineers, including Soliton Controles Industriais and C-Born Engineering, which assist in development and translation. Additionally, QElectroTech supports DXF export for easier integration with other software.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Excellent cross-referencing system (contacts/coils), easy component creation, and bills of materials that save hours of work.
  • Nothing. I liked nothing about this, but I never got past trying to create a title block, so for me there is NOTHING to like.

Cons

  • The initial learning curve, as drawing measurements are based on pixels.
  • The dev's use of unusual methods to do simple tasks
