The default installation is a minimal base system, configured by the user to only add what is purposely required. Arch Linux defines simplicity as without unnecessary additions or modifications. It ships software as released by the original developers (upstream) with minimal distribution-specific (downstream) changes, patches not accepted by upstream are avoided, and Arch's downstream patches consist almost entirely of backported bug fixes that are obsoleted by the project's next release. Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros Fast and stable powerful system. -Gentoo & LFS take hours/days to install, Arch gets it done in 15 min while being superior to Linux, the BSD family, Windows & Mac in every way. -often imitated, but never duplicate, Arch Linux is so influential it spawned so many forks (spinoffs) Artix, Manjaro, Arco, Blackarch, ArchLabs etc. -Arch User Repository, the most & largest collection of software available ANYWHERE. -pacman, Yay, Paru, Trizen packages managers, no Crapbook app store needed, all free. -If you can think of a program & you can code, anything is possible, no hardware incompatibility errors AT ALL - Linux isn't Mac or Windows but it's fully capable of using their software, with no unfixable error -You are in 100% control nothing is restricted, it's yours to make or delete as you see fit You can customize everything: Arch Linux is based on the "Keep it Simple, Stupid" philosophy, so, if you want a DE, you can install a DE. AUR: The AUR is full of software, so you won't have to compile everything from source. Cons Complexity to install. -System D primary init (Runit, S6, Suite66, DInit are faster and superior) -All Glibc no Musl replacement exclusive option. -bbs.archlinux.org forum community is TOXIC. None at all, for the time I used Arch, I haven't found any issues.	Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros Debian is one of the most stable Linux distributions, making it ideal for production environments and long-term use. Extensive testing ensures minimal bugs and high uptime. Over 59,000 packages are available, covering almost every use case. Includes both stable and backports repositories for additional flexibility. Supports a wide range of hardware, including older systems and the latest devices. Kernel 6.1 brings better hardware support for modern peripherals. Debian allows deep customization, from lightweight server configurations to full-fledged desktop environments. Multiple desktop environments are officially supported, including GNOME, KDE, XFCE, and more. Nothing at all. Just stay clear of this distribution. Crashes constantly and also doesn't boot on some computers. Installing: While installing, you have multiple advanced choices, you can choose a GUI installer or a text-based one. DEs: Debian supports a lot of DEs, including, but not limited to: KDE Plasma, GNOME, Xfce... Cons Debian prioritizes stability over cutting-edge software, which means it may lag behind in offering the latest versions of applications. Users who need bleeding-edge software might need to use backports or compile from source. Debian adheres strictly to free software principles, which may require additional setup for proprietary drivers (e.g., NVIDIA GPU drivers) or non-free codecs. Configuring advanced features, especially for servers or networking, may require deeper Linux knowledge. The constant crashing takes it away for me. Just use a different OS. I haven't found any issues that affect me in any way.
