Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Nastran has a loyal following by structures engineers who have invested much time and effort into using it. Nastran is a generally accepted tool in stress. Ansys has aggressively developed its software and is now by far the largest company in simulation. Ansys can solve much larger problems using solids without reduction to 2D. Ansys is both easy to use and very powerful.

Cons

  • Nastran is outdated and lacks decent pre and post processing. Its unstable for large linear problems and for nonlinear problems. Using Ansys requires constantly fighting the status quo and inertia of Nastran users in stress.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • The program provides us with computerized CAD modeling tools based on the specifications previously requested, to simulate the operation of the projects we have in just the development phase. It has several modeling options: 3D, motion, dynamic, among others. It is an excellent opportunity for companies that have ideas and projects in their primary states and want to test their safety, performance and future failures, since SimScale models your project in 3D scale and simulates operability and gives you risk reports and opportunities in its operation.
  • SimScale offers a 3D scale project simulation and infrastructure modeling service in a computerized way using basic knowledge of web aided engineering. We can use it if we work in the fields of engineering, architecture and construction and the program is responsible for digital testing of our projects that are under development.

Cons

  • SimScale does not allow a direct manipulation in the simulations of the projects provided by the companies, limiting us the power to modify or control the testing process. It also does not offer a version for mobile devices causing its usability to become frustrating when we ask for it in practice.
  • This program has the limitation of language, since the platform is only in English. This generates conflict with its clients since they have more than 100,000 of them and are segmented around the world. Likewise, it does not offer 2D modeling for projects of smaller scale or importance or budget.
