About

Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) is a fully managed container orchestration service. Customers such as Duolingo, Samsung, GE, and Cook Pad use ECS to run their most sensitive and mission-critical applications because of its security, reliability, and scalability. ECS is a great choice to run containers for several reasons. First, you can choose to run your ECS clusters using AWS Fargate, which is serverless compute for containers. Fargate removes the need to provision and manage servers, lets you specify and pay for resources per application, and improves security through application isolation by design. Second, ECS is used extensively within Amazon to power services such as Amazon SageMaker, AWS Batch, Amazon Lex, and Amazon.com’s recommendation engine, ensuring ECS is tested extensively for security, reliability, and availability.

About

More flexible than a gold-medal gymnast. NetApp® StorageGRID® is the flexible, multi-cloud object store you can trust to manage your most critical data. NetApp StorageGRID’s intelligent metadata-driven policies work around the clock to help optimize your data so it’s always available across multiple geographies, incredibly durable, highly compliant, and stored in the most cost-effective manner possible. Did someone say, “hybrid cloud?” StorageGRID also lets you keep your data in a local private cloud while taking advantage of S3-compatible public cloud services, such as notifications, metadata search, and analytics. StorageGRID helps organizations around the world manage extremely large data sets and ensure that their data is cost-efficient and always available with flexible deployments, differentiated service levels, and hybrid-cloud workflows. StorageGRID provides greater data management intelligence on a simplified platform for your object data.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Best way to package and store the application code that we create for our client's apps and help keep this information in a reliable and quick access container.
  • The main pros of using Amazon Elastic Container Service is that is very easy to run your dockerized containers. Also, the documentation is very clean and easy to understand so it won't be a problem for anyone to work with this product.
  • I like that it is possible to rent virtual computers which lets people run their own computer applications.
  • Simple configuration & Easy to maintain. Great Integration. Custom Docker support via ECR. Scalable & Reliable. Pay as you use model.

Cons

  • Sometimes deleting a container can be difficult when it has hidden objects in it.
  • I have used this product for some time now but I have not found any cons in using this product.
  • There is no cons.
  • Documentation can be more beginner friendly. Pricing model is good but GCP offers better pricing.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • It's even better than AWS, you can really relay your data lifecycle to it, with the ILM rules it's super easy take care of you data, and the underlying Cassandra database does all the work to manage the metadata and object location. Best S3 on-prem solution.

Cons

  • AWS v4 Auth presided URLs for multipart uploads it's not implemented yet. Waiting for 11.5.
