About

Accelerate app development with scalable GraphQL APIs. Organizations choose to build APIs with GraphQL because it helps them develop applications faster, by giving front-end developers the ability to query multiple databases, microservices, and APIs with a single GraphQL endpoint. AWS AppSync is a fully managed service that makes it easy to develop GraphQL APIs by handling the heavy lifting of securely connecting to data sources like AWS DynamoDB, Lambda, and more. Adding caches to improve performance, subscriptions to support real-time updates, and client-side data stores that keep off-line clients in sync are just as easy. Once deployed, AWS AppSync automatically scales your GraphQL API execution engine up and down to meet API request volumes. AWS AppSync offers fully managed GraphQL API and Pub/Sub API setup, administration, auto-scaling, and high availability. Easily secure, monitor, log, and trace your API via built-in support for AWS WAF, CloudWatch and X-Ray.

About

The CData API Server is the fastest and easiest way to build and deploy data driven APIs. With API Server users can create APIs that deliver application back–ends for internal applications, facilitate mobile development projects, expose data as a service, and deploy enterprise–class microservices. The API Server is an installed application that includes everything needed to create, run, manage and secure APIs - all without custom development. It enables you to create and deliver self-contained API endpoints, on-premise or to the cloud - that connect to any application or database and translate REST, JSON, and OData API calls to your configured IT resources. Complete with API critical features like access-control, data security, monitoring, and management, API server is a powerful tool to help modernize your back-end infrastructure. Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Works in an offline mode quite well. It is very easy to set up. Amazon also provides tutorials which are very helpful to understand the flow of the application.

Cons

  • If you have not experienced working with Amplify then using AppSync can become quite complex.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • The CDATA API server is an easy to use method for exposing CDATA drivers offering connectivity to various data sources.

Cons

  • Beware of their pricing. They start off at a reasonable price and then it increases drastically. We are seeing 100-150% increases year over year.
