*** THIS IS AN ALPHA RELEASE, NOT A "PRODUCTION-READY" RELEASE *** The idea behind YAGX-OS is to create an OS which is conducive to *n*x software developers, as well as for the casual user. In other words, we aim to provide a free (as in freedom), user-friendly operating system by software developers, for software developers; a community with established principles, which evades major Open Sores traps, and applies these four essential freedoms: • The freedom to run the program as you wish, for any purpose • The freedom to study how the program works, and change it as you see fit. • The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help others. • The freedom to distribute copies of your modified versions to others. Additional goals include: • Avoid proprietary hosting traps • Promote/provide excellent software developer tools which foment the aforementioned freedoms as much as possible • Tiny system footprint • Stable base (high OS uptimes) • Painless system upgrades (using containers instead of package managers) • Requiring user's explicit permission, by default, to update *any* program • Enhancing existing system tools (XFCE) • Enhancing existing developer tools • Developing new tools (developer tools and other tools) Evidently, many of these goals may seem high and fantastic, and this alpha release likely violates several of the aforementioned essential freedoms, however, this is what is trending across the board. The good news is that we are a community, and this distribution aims reverse that trend and re-establish system servitude to the user... No dream is too big. *** THIS IS AN ALPHA RELEASE, NOT A "PRODUCTION-READY" RELEASE ***
