  • Carlmccall: you don't seem to understand opensource. You can look into the code, and you would see that the internetconnection is only needed for the lyrics, internet archive, internetstreams, podcast and fetching CDDB information for the CD being ripped. Playing those without internetconnection is not possible (maybe you could help to code this). If it hangs/crashes for you, you could make a ticket, send a mail, ask on facebook, and an option could be added to disable internetconnection. Some features are already added because some people asked about it. Some bugs and errors are already solved by people that, instead of whining, write better code. It is coded in spare time as a hobby and to learn, not for your enjoyment, but for my own, and people who understand the spirit of opensource. BTW: Just tested on my iMac without any internet connection. Ripped 'Reason' by 'Selah Sue' and enjoyed listening to it :)
  • Won't work AT ALL if you do not have an "Always On" internet connection. I put a copy on a USB stick ... since my other computer isn't connected to the internet ... and I took it to my Mac. I put the Mac OS X version IN the Application folder of that computer and ejected the USB Stick. Then I tried it. It launches - but stalls, and must be forced to quit - because it cannot "Call Home" from the system I am testing it on. Do we REALLY need a piece of open source software that doesn't work if it can't reach the internet? Behavior like this makes me suspect that it needs to secretly download additional bits of code from the DEVELOPERS Private servers before it can work properly. This thing can NOT Rip CDs if the system has no internet connection. This this cannot play any of the many audio files I have on that system. This thing cannot even WORK - on Macintosh OS X systems - if it has no internet access. Legit developers would simply have the App note that "You have no internet connection and some features will not work." in a dialog box: and then you could play music on your system. Fail.
