    This was the only way I found to use my old gamepad (thrustmaster dual analog 2) with games that require xinput. I have used x360ce.App-2.1.2.190 succesfully in windows, in linux with wine 4.0, and even with some unity game (even when the compatibility list says they are not compatible). I must say that more recent versions of x360ce (from github site) did not work for me (I tested 3.2.9.81 and 4.8.0.14). The games I tested (gauntlet, forced slightly better, realms of ancient war, victor vran) did not recognize my gamepad, while this old v2.1.2.190 woked perfectly.
