Limit the number of login attempts that can be made within a user-definable space of time before the source IP address is banned from further login attempts (the length of the ban is also user definable).

Whitelisting and blacklisting is also available to ensure some users (administrators working from a fixed IP address) are never locked out or to ensure some IP addresses are always locked out.
