I stole your code in the hope of frankenprogramming a Rom2 style game in Python. I found your style of programming accessible and the comments very helpful. While the game-play and especially graphics need a lot of work (I'm assuming this is coming in later versions), the foundation seems solidly constructed and these details can be added later. -thank you for sharing this with us, I wish you success and support with your project.
