I used to love this game (as recently as last week). However, this review is based on update build 3.2.3. Since installing the new build yesterday, Freeciv is now practically unplayable. Loading a saved game takes minutes instead of seconds. Starting a new turn takes at least a full minute instead of five to ten seconds. It seems that the addition of storms (and an animal-control-nation to control the storms) has brought gameplay to a halt.

mega content (though spread out of hugely long gameplay). but gets 5* also for SOURCE and this IS sourceforge. 2.6.4 or 3.1.4 builds the client-GUI for SDL2, GTK(2,3,4) QT(4,5,6). While other ubu microsoft githubs have chosen to domination warez "qt office desktop widget latest ver ONLY support": Freeciv has kept SDL and GTK working support (although dropped Xaw some time ago). That and it was easy to build: this gets a full 5*
