Do not trust the other reviews. They are likely fake and are meant to elevate what amounts to extortion. I will be reporting this project and switching to vanilla Ubuntu as while it says it's free with a professional license, it actually FORCES you to acquire a professional license after a certain number of system boot cycles, effectively defeating the purpose of switching to a Linux distro just to escape the hellish nightmare that is Windows 11's needlessly strict requirements. Avoid this project in the meantime. (EDIT: As of 23 September 2025, I have also filed a report with the Federal Trade Commission of the United States over this behavior. There's also not much here that can't be installed onto vanilla Ubuntu at no charge to do so.)

Easy to install via USB using Rufus. Looks and feels like Windows. Very stable. If you want the look of Windows with the security of Linux, this is a great choice. It also has Wine installed, so you can use Windows .exe-type programs.

To burn WinUX to DVD, one must use a DUAL-LAYER DVD blank which has 8Gb capacity, and the DVD writer must have dual-layer write capability. These dual-layer disks are sometimes (and becoming) hard to find, as flash drives of 32Gb and above capacity are about the same price as a few of these disks. Looking to download and test drive WinUX myself....

The Winux project is a possible alternative for Windows-plagued users who want to switch from W10/11 to Linux but don't want to or can't do without the W layout. @sourceforge.net The download latency is extremely slow at approx. 1.5 - 2 MiB/s. dalincerguy & the Winux Team. It would help to let people know that the ISO can be prepared using a flash-drive. You have only given advice on burning to a DVD - which doesn't work because the ISO is too big to fit. Please provide instructions for people to use Flash drive installers like Rufus (Windows only ) or BalenaEtcher - (Mac - Linux - Windows)
