WinBoat is a free, open-source application that enables Linux users to run Windows software with seamless desktop integration. It uses a containerized virtualization approach to run Windows inside a virtual machine managed through Docker or Podman. Windows applications appear as individual windows within the Linux desktop using FreeRDP and RemoteApp technology. The software provides an intuitive graphical interface that automates Windows installation and configuration. Users can access a complete Windows desktop or launch individual applications according to their needs. It also supports file sharing through home directory mounting, smartcard passthrough, and resource monitoring. WinBoat is currently in beta development and aims to simplify Windows application compatibility on Linux.
