VoxScribe is a free, open source voice dictation app for Windows 10 and 11. Hold a hotkey (F9 by default, or Left Shift), talk, release, and the text is typed directly into whatever window has focus, with no clipboard and no cloud.
Speech recognition runs locally on your PC with Whisper (faster-whisper), so your audio never leaves the machine and it works fully offline after a one-time model download.
Features: import audio and video files and export .srt subtitles, about 28 languages with auto-detect, a translate-to-English mode, spoken punctuation commands, custom word replacements, an optional keep-microphone-ready mode, and an adjustable typing delay.
Free with no account. An optional one-time Pro upgrade adds text snippets and the Medium and Large Whisper models. The installer is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may warn on first run. Source code and releases are also on GitHub: https://github.com/ahmedhmam1994/voxscribe-ai-voice-dictation
