A small ICS chess client written in Java, not so large as Jin and nicer looking. The main thing will be to write code for various chess servers. Expected features include game saving as PGN and support for most commands of various ICS servers.

Jin client for chess servers
Jin is a Java client for various chess servers. It currently supports the Internet Chess Club (chessclub.com) and the Free Internet Chess Server (freechess.org) but is designed to be able to support any chess server.
X11 Chess Collection (xcc)
A group of chess related programs. At the moment the following are planned: a chess board manipulator, a correspondence chess manager, a PGN to HTML converter and perhaps an ICS client. No plans for a chess *engine* - Crafty is already good enough.

pgn2pgc converts text Portable Game Notation (PGN) chess files into highly compressed Portable Game Coding (PGC) chess files. This is the only implementation of PGC as described in the PGN standard. Code is also useful for writing chess software.
EBoard
EBoard is a user-friendly chess interface for ICS (Internet Chess Servers). While it will focus on FICS (www.freechess.org), should work with any other ICS. It supports playing against local chess engines too.
