Gilgamesh is the name of the ancient half-god/hero of Sumer. In his quest for immortality, he feared meaninglessness and death. Though he never found eternal life, he found meaning in the quest itself. Said to be the son of a priest and the holy queen of Heaven herself, Gilgamesh had superhuman strength and stamina. Gilgamesh is a Sumerian equivalent to Heracles/Hercules of the Greco-Roman pantheon.
