Ostara(Eostre): Ostara is both the name of a fertility goddess and a Easter celebration in Germanic language. The theories and legends of the festival and the goddess are both in debate and there is little ancient evidence tying her to hares and eggs outright, however, since the 19th century, the festival of Easter has been celebrated by egg hunts and bunnies as mascots. Easter is a spring and fertility festival so eggs and hares make sense, as this was evidently used in celebration from ancient times in Northern parts of Europe.
